Preparing patients for dental procedures, assisting the dentist during treatments by passing instruments, taking X-rays, sterilizing instruments, maintaining patient records, providing post-operative instructions, and educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices.
Patient preparation:
Welcoming patients and escorting them to the treatment room
Taking medical history and updating patient records
Ensuring patient comfort in the dental chair
Taking vital signs and recording information
Drape patients with protective coverings
Chairside assistance:
Setting up instrument trays with necessary tools
Passing instruments to the dentist during procedures
Suctioning oral fluids during procedures
Applying topical anesthetic as directed
Maintaining clear visibility of the treatment area
Radiography:
Taking dental X-rays according to proper techniques
Developing and mounting X-rays
