Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Temporary Dental Assistant to come work with our team. In this role, you will assist the dentist and dental hygienist in a variety of clinical and administrative duties, contributing to high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of the dental practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Assistance:
Assist the dentist during examinations, procedures, and surgeries by handing instruments, managing patient comfort, and ensuring proper sterilization of dental tools.
Prepare treatment rooms by setting up necessary equipment and materials.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while following safety protocols.
Provide chairside support during patient procedures such as fillings, cleanings, extractions, and crowns.
Review patient medical histories and update records as necessary.
Ensure patient comfort and explain procedures to patients to ease anxiety.
Sterilization & Infection Control:
Maintain strict infection control practices, including cleaning, sterilizing, and organizing dental equipment and tools.
Ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations, including OSHA and CDC guidelines.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule patient appointments and maintain the office calendar.
Process patient paperwork, including insurance forms, medical histories, and consent forms.
Answer phones, manage patient inquiries, and provide office information.
Assist with patient follow-up, including confirming appointments and explaining pre- and post-treatment instructions.
Inventory & Supply Management:
Monitor and manage the inventory of dental supplies, placing orders as needed to ensure the practice remains fully stocked.
Ensure the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with regulations.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the dentist and other dental professionals to provide the highest standard of patient care.
Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor while interacting with patients and coworkers.
Stay updated with the latest dental technologies and procedures to improve patient care.

Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or certification in dental assisting is a plus).
Dental Assistant Certification (CDA) preferred but not required.
Knowledge of dental terminology, tools, and procedures.
Familiarity with dental software and office systems.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
Previous experience as a dental assistant.
X-ray certification.
CPR/First Aid certification.
