Examine patients for signs of oral diseases, such as gingivitis, and provide preventive care, including oral hygiene and report their findings to dentists.. Remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth. Perform scaling and root planing. Apply sealants and fluorides to help prevent tooth decay. Place medicaments to treat periodontal disease. Educate patients about oral health. Document patient care and treatment plans, and update patient health and dental history forms. Take dental X-rays to help determine the extent of decay or disease. Maintain sterile conditions and practice infection control procedures.
