Provide clinical services and health education to improve and maintain oral health such as brushing, flossing, and other plaque control methods.
Take and record medical and dental histories and updated personal information in patient’s chart.
Responsible for continuous improvement and solicits patient feedback to improve patient satisfaction
Greets and prepares patients for treatment.
Reviews patient charts, medical and dental history, treatment information, and records vital signs.
Administers local anesthesia, nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia sedation, and oxygen (if certified).
Assesses the oral cavity for the presence of periodontal disease, obvious carious lesions, restorations, missing teeth, visible calculus, extraneous material on tooth surfaces, areas of recession, cosmetic concerns, specialty screenings, occlusion concerns, and suspicious tissue lesions.
Provides coronal polishing to remove extrinsic stain.
Provides debridement and/or scaling and root planning procedures with ultrasonic and/or hand instruments to remove accretions and stains from coronal and root surfaces.
Carefully removes bacteria supra/sub gingivally to assist with managing health within the periodontium
Treats the infection of periodontal disease with appropriate medicaments
Applies topical fluorides
Applies bleaching agents
Fabricates and sizes temporary crowns and removes cement where delegable
Polishes and contours restorations- if appropriate
Provides preventive care and oral hygiene education.
Maintains hygiene treatment supply inventory, sterilizes, disinfects and maintains dental hygiene equipment and instruments.
Prepares operatory, instruments and tray setups for treatment.
Maintains a productive hygiene schedule by actively participating in patient recruitment, rescheduling missed appointments and partnering with the doctor to ensure timely therapeutic care.
Conducts work in compliance with state regulations, office policies and procedures, and OSHA guidelines.
Actively participates in the achievement of patient satisfaction and office production goals by working efficiently and providing a high level of patient service.
Appropriately and comprehensively documents services performed during a customer’s visit
Assists with other duties as needed.
Education and/or years of experience:
Dental Hygiene Degree from accredited Dental Hygiene Program
One+ years of experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Active State Hygiene License
State Anesthesia Administration License (where applicable)
Nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia certification (where applicable)
CPR Certification
