  • Oral health assessments: Review patients dental and medical histories, and screen them for oral disease and tooth decay 

  • Cleanings: Remove tartar, plaque, and stains from teeth, and polish them 

  • X-rays: Take and develop dental x-rays 

  • Preventive care: Apply sealants, fluorides, and other materials to help prevent tooth decay 

  • Education: Teach patients about oral hygiene, nutrition, and how to brush and floss properly 

  • Documentation: Record patient care and treatment plans, including the type of treatment, time needed, and instructions for patients 

  • Communication: Work closely with dentists, and report their findings to them
