Dental hygienist responsibilities 

  • Initial assessments: Evaluate patients' oral health and update their records

  • Cleanings: Remove plaque, tartar, and stains

  • Fluoride treatments: Apply fluoride to help protect teeth

  • Sealants: Apply sealants to help protect teeth

  • X-rays: Take and develop dental X-rays

  • Education: Teach patients how to practice proper oral hygiene

  • Care plans: Develop patient care plans with the doctor

  • Collaboration: Work with other dental team members

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in dental hygiene from an accredited institution

  • Active dental hygiene license in the state of practice

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients of all ages and backgrounds
