Job Overview

Clean teeth: Remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth
Take X-rays: Assist dentists with X-rays and radiographic studies
Provide oral health education: Counsel patients on how to care for their teeth
Identify oral health issues: Screen patients for oral cancer and other diseases
Apply sealants and fluorides: Prevent tooth decay with sealants and fluorides
Update patient records: Maintain patient records with dental histories and treatment information
Prepare treatment rooms: Set up treatment rooms and instruments
Prepare patients: Welcome patients, seat them, and drape them
Sterilize equipment: Maintain and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
