We are looking for a friendly and professional Dental Assistant to join our team temporarily. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the dentist in the clinical treatment of patients, performing a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties and working chairside as dentist examines and treat patients. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and have experience in the dental field. We are looking for someone who is passionate about providing excellent customer service and is dedicated to helping our patients receive the best care possible.
Qualifications:
Trained and certified in the dental assisting field with a DC level II license
Possess knowledge of dental terminology.
Understand and comply with policies and procedures associated with a dental practice.
Understand and comply with HIPAA.
Understand and comply with the HITECH Act of 2009.
Working knowledge of dental practice management software (Open Dental, etc.)
Complete Continuing Education Requirements as required by the American Dental licensing board.
Responsibilities:
Patient Preparation
Greet new patients when they check in & monitor arrival time
Obtain & review health histories & BP according to office protocol
Chart patients visit & record date, services rendered, and any charges
Keep dental suites ready, stocked & clean
Demonstrate care & concern, while helping patients feel comfortable
Set up treatment suites for procedures
Escort patients to treatment suites
Seat patient in treatment suites
Ensure patients are always attended
Patient Services
Anticipate & assist dentists needs
Perform expanded functions & other tasks as assigned by the dentist
Mix dental material
Ensure patients questions are answered thoroughly before they leave
Escort patients from the treatment suite
Ensure proper treatment notes are recorded in patients chart
Perform clinical procedures as practice act allows & as directed by dentist
Promptly send out and monitor all dental laboratory cases
Give patient instruction & demonstrate when necessary
Monitor patient flow
Treatment Suite Management & Sterilization
Monitor inventory and order dental office supplies as needed
Oversee cleanliness of treatment suites according to sterilization procedures
Disinfect treatment suites according to OSHA regulations
Sterilize all instruments and handpieces according to OSHA regulations
Keep trays, instruments and treatment drawers organized
Ensure that office sterilization procedures document is on display
Implement the preventative maintenance/cleaning schedule for dental equipment
Maintain dental office emergency kits, nitrous and oxygen tanks
Records Management
Securely store and handle patient records in compliance with legal requirements, including HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
